Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is Skatrium?
Skatrium is a global mobile app and platform for roller skating events, Skate DJs, and skate-related shops.
It helps skaters discover what's happening around the world, connect with DJs, and find skate businesses — all in one dedicated space built for the skating community.
Skatrium acts as a discovery and promotional and marketplace platform. We do not organise, manage, or operate events, DJ services, or shops.
Who is Skatrium for?
Skatrium is for:
-
Roller skaters looking for events near them or abroad
-
Event organisers promoting skate sessions, parties, and festivals
-
Skate DJs showcasing their services
-
Skate shops (online or physical) connecting with the skating community
-
Anyone who loves skating culture and wants to stay connected globally
If it rolls, glides, or vibes — you’re in the right place.
Is Skatrium global?
Yes. Skatrium is built for the global roller skating community — whether you're skating locally or travelling internationally.
You can discover events, DJs, and skate shops from around the world.
What kind of events can be listed?
Skatrium focuses on roller skating events, including:
-
Skate parties and socials
-
Workshops and classes
-
Festivals and takeovers
-
Pop-ups, jams, and community sessions
Events can be indoor or outdoor, beginner-friendly or advanced — as long as they’re skate-focused.
Can Skate DJs create profiles?
Yes. Skate DJs can create dedicated profiles to:
-
Showcase their style and experience
-
Share social media and contact information
-
Promote availability for bookings
Skatrium does not manage DJ bookings directly. All agreements and payments are handled between DJs and their clients.
Can skate shops be listed?
Yes. Both online and physical skate shops can create listings to:
-
Showcase their brand and products
-
Share contact details and website links
-
Connect with skaters worldwide
-
Sell products directly through the app
Where products are sold through the app, payments are processed securely by Stripe and go directly to the shop. Each shop is the seller and is responsible for its products, shipping and returns. Skatrium does not sell products, manage shipping or handle returns.
Is Skatrium free to use?
Yes. Browsing events, DJs, and shop listings is always free for skaters.
Organisers, Skate DJs, and skate shops can create listings to reach a wider audience. Paid subscription tiers are available for listers, with plans for organisers, DJs, and merchants — all including a 60-day free trial so you can explore the platform before committing. Pricing and feature details are available within the app.
How do I pay for tickets or products?
Payments are made securely through Stripe, one of the world’s leading payment providers. Skatrium never sees or stores your full card details. You pay the price shown, with no extra booking fee added at checkout.
Who do I contact about a refund?
Refunds are handled by the organiser or shop you bought from, in line with their own refund policy. If you can’t reach them, contact Skatrium support and we’ll do our best to help.
How much does it cost to sell tickets or products on Skatrium?
Skatrium takes a 5% platform fee on each sale. Stripe, our payment provider, also charges a small processing fee. Both are deducted automatically, and the rest is paid straight into your own Stripe account. Your buyers pay exactly the price you set, with nothing added on top.
Can you show me an example?
Here’s what you’d receive on a typical ticket paid with a standard UK card:
£10 ticket: Skatrium fee £0.50, Stripe fee approx. £0.35, you receive £9.15
£15 ticket: Skatrium fee £0.75, Stripe fee approx. £0.43, you receive £13.82
£20 ticket: Skatrium fee £1.00, Stripe fee approx. £0.50, you receive £18.50
Stripe’s fees can be slightly higher for international or business cards. You can see Stripe’s current rates at stripe.com/gb/pricing.
Do I need a Stripe account?
Yes, if you want to sell through Skatrium. Setting one up is free and takes a few minutes, and your earnings go directly into your own Stripe account. If you’d rather use your own ticketing website, you can link to it from your event instead. You won’t need Stripe, and no Skatrium fee applies.
When do I get paid?
Stripe pays out to your bank account on its standard schedule, which is usually a few working days after the sale. You can check your payout timings in your Stripe dashboard.
Who handles refunds?
You do, as the seller. Refunds are issued from your Stripe account. The Skatrium fee and Stripe’s processing fee are normally not returned on refunded sales.
Do I still pay a subscription as well?
Yes. The 5% fee is separate from your Skatrium subscription. Your subscription covers your profile, listings and features, and the fee only applies when you actually make a sale.
Do I need to charge VAT?
That depends on your own business. Skatrium’s fees are shown excluding VAT, and you’re responsible for any VAT or tax due on your own sales.
How do I find events, DJs, or shops near me?
You can browse and filter by:
-
Location
-
Date (for events)
-
Event type
-
Profile category
This makes it easy to plan local sessions, travel experiences, or discover new skating businesses.
How do I submit an event or create a profile?
Organisers, Skate DJs, and skate shops can register and create listings directly through the Skatrium app. Organisers can choose to sell tickets through the app or link to their own ticketing website.
Can I save or favourite listings?
Yes. You can favourite events and profiles you’re interested in and return to them anytime — perfect for planning trips, weekends, bookings, or skate holidays.
How do profiles work?
Skatrium provides dedicated profile spaces for organisers, DJs, and skate shops.
Profiles allow users to:
-
Share listings and updates
-
Build credibility through reviews
-
Be discovered by skaters worldwide
Each listing owner is responsible for keeping their information accurate and up to date.
Can skaters leave reviews?
Yes. Skaters can leave 5-star reviews for events, organisers, skate shops, and Skate DJs to help the community make informed decisions and highlight great experiences.
Skatrium monitors reviews to maintain community standards and may remove content that breaches guidelines.
Does Skatrium run or manage events, DJs, or shops?
No. Skatrium does not organise, manage, represent, or operate events, Skate DJs, skating rinks, or skate shops.
All events, DJ services, and retail businesses are run independently by their respective organisers, professionals, or shop owners.
Skatrium acts as a discovery, promotional and marketplace platform. Where tickets or products are sold through the app, we facilitate the payment, but the sale is between you and the organiser or shop.
We do not accept responsibility or liability for:
-
The safety, conduct, or logistics of events
-
DJ services, bookings, or performance outcomes
-
Products sold by listed shops
-
Transactions between users and third parties
For any questions, disputes, or claims, users must contact the relevant organiser, DJ, or shop directly.
How can I get support or report an issue?
You can reach out through the 'Contact Us' section in the Skatrium app, or via the contact page on our website.
We aim to respond to all enquiries within 48 hours. We're community-led and always open to feedback that helps Skatrium grow better for skaters worldwide.
